Hannibal and Sunny Boy - my 2 koi fish (although you can really only see Hannibal here)

My very own inferiority complex

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." Eleanor Roosevelt said that. And it is true, when you come to think about it. So why is it that I always feel inferior? I wish I knew. There is always going to be someone out there who writes better than me, plays the guitar better than me, paints better than me, or articulates him or herself better than me. I know this, and I completely accept this. That is not the problem. The problem is that I go as far to think that EVERYONE is better at EVERYTHING than me. I really don't know why I think this way. I mean no one has ever really put me down for being an inferior person...well no one that I really needed to worry about (but that is a subject for a later entry). I just tend to take criticism better than I do compliments. I guess because if you get criticized for something, there is always an opportunity to try to make it better. With compliments, I get so shy and wonder if there is an ulterior motive involved in the giving of the compliment, or wonder if I am supposed to say something back besides, "Thank you." Most of the time, I can't even think of anything anyone could possibly compliment me on. Especially my looks. lol... I am not the prettiest of girls, nor am I thin by any means. Sometimes it bothers me to know that some people out there automatically assume I am lazy or stupid just because I don't have a body like a supermodel. To tell you the truth, part of me wishes that I could be beautiful, but then, naw....I would settle for average looking any day. But I would never resort to plastic surgery to make myself look different just to please somebody other than myself...never. I may feel inferior sometimes, but I still have my own mind and refuse to change myself just to please someone else. Compromise I can handle...but ultimatums don't fly well with me. Still, if I had the money, I would get a breast reduction for sure. Men just don't realize how much of a pain in the ass (or chest in this instance) those things are!!! I am VERY self conscious about my chest, and won't wear anything too clingy or bras that push up (lord knows I don't need push ups!!!). I don't want to draw any more attention to my chest than it already gets. I hate it so much that I even buy those minimizer bras in the hopes that my chest won't be too noticeable...but then, I doubt they would ever be able to make a bra that would shrink my boobs down to a normal size - if they have some out there, let me know!!

In college, every time I turned in a paper or an exam, I felt like I could have done better. Even if I got an A, I still felt like something was missing or could be improved on....well, except in math. I never did well at math, and that really bothered me, and still does. I can't understand why I can't get a handle on math. It really bothers me when I don't understand something. I always feel like I SHOULD understand EVERYTHING, which is probably why I used to always question my elementary school teachers on the stuff I didn't understand about religion (they must not have liked to not understand things themselves, because I always seemed to tick them off with my questions and got me into trouble with them- lol). I know that some people are naturally brilliant and can pick up on things just like that. I never wanted to be one of those people, but somewhere in the middle would be nice.

Now, I am not that way with my friends or anyone else. I am not critical of other people's work. In fact, usually I am the last person you want an opinion from because I am always so much in awe of other people's work that I can't criticize it. I will offer helpful advice when needed, but criticism, no way. If I could find a way to see the good in the things I do and in the person I am, I would be much happier. Maybe I should start treating myself the way I treat my friends...that might be a good start.

One reason why I won't be moving to Alabama - lol

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court (news - web sites) rejected on Tuesday a constitutional challenge to an Alabama law that makes it a crime to sell sex toys.

The high court refused to hear an appeal by a group of individuals who regularly use sexual devices and by two vendors who argued the case raised important issues about the scope of the constitutional right to sexual privacy.

The law prohibited the distribution of "any device designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs." First-time violators can face a fine of up to $10,000 and as much as one year in jail.

The law, adopted in 1998, allowed the sale of ordinary vibrators and body massagers that are not designed or marketed primarily as sexual aids. It exempted sales of sexual devices "for a bona fide medical, scientific, educational, legislative, judicial or law enforcement purpose."
Georgia and Texas are the only other states that restrict the distribution of sexual devices, according to the court record in the case.

Attorneys for the American Civil Liberties Union (news - web sites), representing those who challenged the law, argued that private, consensual sexual conduct among adults is constitutionally protected and beyond the reach of government regulation.

They said the Supreme Court's decision in 2003 striking down a Texas sodomy law also created a fundamental, constitutional due process right to sexual privacy.

"The evidence shows that this case is not about novelty items, naughty toys or obscene matter. It is a case about human sexuality and extremely intimate acts," the attorneys said.

They said Alabama has never explained "why sales of performance enhancing drugs like Viagra, Cialis and Levitra and even ribbed condoms are not similarly prohibited."

The attorneys said the state did not contest the evidence that about 20 percent of all American women use a vibrator and at least 10 percent of sexually active adults use vibrators in their regular sex life.

A federal judge ruled against the state and found a constitutional "right to use sexual devices like ... vibrators, dildos, anal beads and artificial vaginas."

But a U.S. appeals court based in Atlanta upheld the law by a 2-1 vote.

The appeals court said it agreed with Alabama that the law exercised time-honored use of state police power to restrict the sale of sex. It rejected the ACLU's argument that the constitutional right to privacy covered the commercial sale of sex toys.

Alabama Attorney General Troy King opposed the ACLU's appeal.

"This case involves conduct that is both public and commercial -- the sale of sexual devices to the general public in commercial retail shopping centers" and at in-house Tupperware-style parties, he said.

King said the law respected "the distinction between public commercial conduct and purely private behavior." He said, "It ... stays out of people's bedrooms."

The justices rejected the appeal without any comment or recorded dissent.

(can you believe this crap....I mean they allow the sales of guns and stuff that can kill you, but not the sales of something for pleasure....what has this world come to? lol)

And now....deep thoughts...by Jack Handey

"I wish I would have a real tragic love affair and get so bummed out that I'd just quit my job and become a bum for a few years, because I was thinking about doing that anyway. "

"Love can sweep you off your feet and carry you along in a way you've never known before. But the ride always ends, and you end up feeling lonely and bitter. Wait. It's not love I'm describing. I'm thinking of a monorail."

"Laurie got offended that I used the word "puke." But to me, that's what her dinner tasted like."

"It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man."

"I hope life isn't a big joke, because I don't get it."

Who's got the answer?

I find it funny that there are soooooo many of those online tests out there. You know...the ones that ask you questions and process your answers to "reveal" all sorts of stuff about you. I took a quiz twice...to see what kind of girlfriend I am...once with my real answers and the next time with just made-up answers, answered without any thought at all. The first result was this....

Kim, you're a Steady Supporter Stand by your man — that's just something you naturally do. Once you've committed to a relationship, you are a constant companion who enjoys the comfort and stability that comes from being a couple. Not quick to judge, accuse, or think the worst, you have a lot of trust (in him and in yourself), and you rarely worry about where he is or who he's with.

The next result, the one with the made-up answers came out like this....

Kim, you're a Passionate Partner Love or lust? You probably don't ask that question too much — they're both important to a passionate soul like you. This doesn't mean that you play the field. You just love getting swept up in your emotions, and you want to keep desire alive in your long-term relationships.

It just goes to show you that no test is 100% perfect. These tests rely on the fact that you are answering truthfully, and gosh knows that not everyone does that. I could take some insanity test and just answer at random and be found to be insane based on a test. But, thes tests are fun nonetheless, and are just for entertainment purposes, much as horoscopes and the like are. Sometimes when I get especially bored, I will look on the internet for some test or quiz. I like the IQ tests because they make you think, but even those results can be unreliable, if you are a good enough guesser ;)

And the award goes to.....

I have come to the conclusion that there are entirely too many award shows out there. I came to this conclusion as I sat at the tv watching the TRL awards and they had an award for the best band that actually plays their own instruments (insert laugh here). What are they gonna come up with next? How about an award show for the best reality tv shows and people? Oh yeah...they have one of those already. Ok...how about an award show for the best commercials. Oh yeah...they have one of those already too. How about an award show for the worst movies? They have that already too. Ok, what about an award for the stupidest award show? Do they have one of those already? Well, if they don't, I am sure there is someone out there working up that concept right now.

Friends are the best

Friends are what make life a little easier to handle. They make the sun seem to shine a little brighter. They make the good days seem to last longer and the bad days seem to fly by. They are what make the world a better place, and you all the better of a person for having known them.

I have known my best friend Cyndi since I was about in 3rd grade. We were in Girl Scouts together. We have been through a lot together. I remember having sleepovers and riding bikes together...the times we put on our little productions of "Grease 2" for no one in particular....the gymnastics performances we would put on...swimming in the pool all day in the summer....building forts in the river bed...fighting over some silly thing or another that seemed so important to us at the time....scary bedtime stories and horror movies.....Stephen King books and the old Atari games we used to play....Girl Scout badges and day camp in the summer....and of course, the "haunted" deserted gas station that is now a Mc Donald's (by the way, I have been to the Mc Donald's and I have never witnessed any hauntings - lol). Those memories sure make me smile.

When I moved away in 7th grade, I was so sad to leave. I thought I would never see Cyndi again. But despite the distance, we stayed friends throughout it all. We wrote letters to each other, some phone calls when we could, and had a few get togethers over the years. We kind of lost touch for a while after high school, but now that we have found each other again, we have kept in touch, despite her busy life (mine is sadly not so busy - lol). I was her maid of honor at her wedding, and I tell you, I have never been so proud of anyone in my life as I was of her that day, and even more honored to be the one whe wanted there at her side on her special day. I hope someday to make her my maid of honor, IF that time ever comes (lol).

I have had quite a few good friends come into my life since then, and all of them hold a special place in my heart....Alicia, Arlene, Veronica, Leif, Tom....they are all wonderful and special people to me, and each one of them brings something new and exciting into my life. Arlene is goofy and more serious and always has something funny to say. Alicia is wild and crazy, and yet very sweet and truly cares about people. Veronica is funny, smart, considerate and makes me laugh. Leif is caring and dorky and honest, and all-around wonderful. And Tom is funny and sometimes strange, but strange in a good way - lol. Each and every one of my friends has shown a new side of the world to me, and exposed me to new and exciting things, things I probably would have never seen or done myself. Every one of my friends is a treasure to me, and I can't think of a better gift than their friendship.

I may not be rich as far as money goes, but I think I am rich in other ways. I have a lot of friends who make me feel loved and cared about, and I think that is better than money in every way.

My grandpa...my hero

I was only 4 years old when my grandfather died, yet I remember everything about him; the way he laughed, the way he pretended to be mad at me when I sat in "his" chair, the puzzles I "helped" him put together. I remember everything like it was yesterday. He was the only grandfather I knew, for my mother's father died before I was born. And since I was their first grandchild, boy was I spoiled!!! I remember visiting my grandparents when I was young, and sleeping on the floor in their room on a mattress and then waking up early for breakfast. I remember that my grandfather would always pretend to be asleep so I could go wake him up for breakfast. I remember playing with my grandpa's pipe cleaners, making them into various animal shapes and making up my own zoo, and how mad he got at me for using them all. Of course, he could never stay mad at me for long. I remember how he used to take me to the beach at Morro Bay, and walk out with me while I collected seashells, and taking me to the Atascadero Zoo to see all the animals. He was always so patient with me. And when we played hide-n-seek, he always pretended to not be able to find me. He gave me piggy back rides, and let me help him with his puzzles. He let me crawl all over him, even when he was getting sick. I didn't understand just how sick he was. I didn't even know what leukemia meant when I was a kid. All I knew is that my grandpa, who was once strong and big, was getting weaker everytime we visited. And before I knew it, he was in the hospital. The last memory I have of him was seeing him outside the window to his room. It was sunny outside, and I remember staning outside in the sun, waving to him, eating a chocolate bar. He waved back to me and smiled, and that was the last time I saw him. I was told that he went to heaven, and at the time, I didn't know what that meant. I just knew he wasn't going to be around anymore, and I always thought that he would come back someday. Of course, I know better now. But I still miss him. Even though I was so very young when he died, I could never forget about him...ever. He was my hero, and he still is.

my grandpa - Clyde Vondell Perkins - miss you!

Random thoughts on a Wednesday night

Sometime I wonder exactly what it is that attracts two people to each other. I suppose it is different for everyone. Some people prefer looks as opposed to a personality, and others are the opposite. Some people like eyes. Some people like chins. Some people like butts (yes, you know who you are - lol). I am not stuck on the whole looks thing, although I do have certain things I like. For example, I like tall guys...well guys who are taller than me. I am short, so that is not a problem (lol) I also like broad shoulders and a strong chin, and of course, the eyes, although I have never seen a guy with ugly eyes....oh, wait a minute. I take that back. Charles Manson....have you seen his eyes??? He has scary eyes. I don't like those! But I certainly never would NOT date a man just because he was short or had narrow shoulders (although I would pass on a man with Charles Manson eyes - lol).

I am more of an internal person I guess. I enjoy a person with a good sense of humor and who is intelligent and can be goofy at times, and serious at others. And these are not just traits that I like in men. I like them in all people, especially my friends. I am a person who enjoys laughing and, at the same time, enjoys thought provoking conversations. There has to be a balance of the two in my life. Life is too serious to be taken so seriously all the time. You have to be able to laugh at yourself when you make a fool of yourself, because gosh knows that EVERYONE at one time or another has done something foolish (and if you are shaking your head at this, then you need a reality check - lol ...Arlene, are you shaking your head? lol) I am a klutz at times, but when I fall, I always pick myself back up, shake off the dust and laugh. Sometimes I think I am my own source of entertainment. I like to be entertained, and I like to entertain. There is nothing better to me than to have a good laugh, especially at work where things can become so tense. I think if people don't laugh once in a while, then they are more likely to get stressed out very quickly. Luckily, I can de-stress myself rather well. But then, you have to take things seriously, too. You can't just laugh your way through life. I am sure even comedians cry once in a while.

Sometimes I see two people walking hand-in-hand, and wonder what brought them together. What chain of events led up to their meeting, and eventual relationship? What do they have in common, and what are their differences? What does she like about him, and what does he not like about her? Where did they meet? What was their first date like? There are so many stories out there that are untold. It is almost like a mystery. I think love and relationships are really like a mystery, becaause first you have to find that someone, and then you have to figure out his or her likes and dislikes. It is like putting pieces of a puzzle together that never gets completed, because people change all the time, and the therefore new pieces are always being added. I think part of the fun of a relationship is finding out about the person, and discovering new things. After all, relationships are learning experiences. Almost like a subject in the school of life. It is not like math, where everything is governed by rules and there are no "almost" answers. But then, I never liked math anyway.

Maybe someday somebody will begin to work on my puzzle. I hope so. I miss being in a relationship. I just like being with someone and sharing myself with that person. I am so much of a nurturing person. There is nothing more satisfying to me than the happiness of those that I care about. Sounds sappy, but it is true. I care more about the welfare of the people I care about than myself. I just want someone around who I can take care of and be there for, and at the same time, be there for me.

Sometimes I think that I think too much and over-analyze things. Which is why I have stopped myself from doing so many things. I need to begin to live and to venture forth and try new things. I just don't think I can do anything that involves being in high places. I am afraid of heights - lol. They are scary. For example, you would never see me here....

Nope....not gonna do that - lol. But I do think it is high time I stop being so self-conscious and just do stuff!!! Now if I could just convince myself to do it.......

There is justice in the world

I was driving today on the freeway, when a car flew past me - I was going about 60 (which was 5 mph over the speed limit), so that driver must have been doing at least 80 or 85. Well...hehe....much to my amusement, a CHP officer was sitting on the side of the road up ahead and the driver of the fast car flew right past him. And you know what.....the speed racer got pulled over!! Woo hoo!!! Let that be a lesson to all those people who feel it necessary to drive way too fast....watch out.....the cops are out there, and they have tickets to write.

Valentine, Oh Where Art Thou?

It is another Valentine's Day for me without a Valentine. I think this is the worst holiday for single people. Maybe it is because you see all the other people out there with significant others getting flowers and candy and all of that stuff, and I NEVER do. I have never gotten flowers from anyone! Well, I did get some from my parents when I graduated from college, but that doesn't count - lol. I mean, it is not like I NEED that stuff, but it would be nice to get something like that once in a while. I am not materialistic, by any means, but it would just be nice to get flowers or a card or candy just out of the blue. But that is just me. Sometimes I think I was just not destined to be romanced - lol. Maybe I should be a nun...naw. I don't wanna go that far. I just want some romance in my life damnit!!!! I think that all of these romance movies and books and jewelry stores and flowershops have turned us women into serial romantics. I never even wanted that sh*t until I found out what I was missing out on. All I want on Valentine's Day is a flower, a piece of candy and a foot massage - lol. That is not too much to ask.

Well, to all of you guys who are lucky enough to have a Valentine on Valentine's Day, I have only one thing to say to you...... YOU SUCK!!!!! lol. Just kidding. You are lucky, so make sure you let your boyfriend or girlfriend know you are lucky to have him/her. Take care of that person, and always let them know how much they mean to you.

Have a happy Valentine's Day you lucky bastards - lol

come out of you. Karen- age 7

Love is when mommy sees daddy on the toilet and doesn't think it's
gross. Mark- age 6

You really shouldn't say I LOVE YOU unless you mean it. But if you mean
it, you should say it a lot. People forget. Jessica-age 8

And the winner was a 4 year old child whose next door neighbor was an
elderly man who had just lost his wife. When the child saw the man cry, the
little boy went over into the man's yard, climbed on top of the man's lap,
and just sat there. When the boy's mother asked him what he'd said to the
neighbor, the little boy said, Nothing, I just helped him cry.

Reality tv

Reality tv is an oxymoron... and my reasoning for that is that reality tv is not really reality (is it me, or where there entirely too many "r's" in that sentence? (lol). I just don't think people are really being "real" on those shows. I mean, they obviously know that that cameras are on them all of the time, and people tend to act differently when they are being videotaped or even getting their picture taken. I was watching The REAL World (another oxymoron - lol), and was thinking to myself, "what a bunch of idiots." They all get together in hot tubs, run around naked and fornicate constantly. It is like one big orgy on that show half of the time. And it has even spread to those reality dating shows. Instead of being all innocent like The Dating Game, these dating games on tv, like Blind Date, are getting more and more like soft porn - lol. I would never do half of the things on a first date that those people do. I guess I am more old fashioned or just old - lol. Anyway, I guess if you want to watch some mindless tv for entertainment, just to see how stupid people can possibly be, then check out The Real World or Blind Date. I do admit that I kind of like The Newlyweds, only because Jessica Simpson is so ditzy, but then, so am I, so maybe that is why I like it. I have my moments of less-than-smartness, so I can somewhat relate, although I do know what Chicken of The Sea is - lol.

Comebacks to stupid lines

For all the girls....

Man: Haven't I seen you someplace before?
Woman: Yes, that's why I don't go there anymore.

Man: Is this seat empty?
Woman: Yes, and this one will be if you sit down.

Man: Your place or mine?

Woman: Both. You go to yours, and I'll go to mine.

Man: So, what do you do for a living?

Woman: I'm a female impersonator.

Man: Hey baby, what's your sign?
Woman: Do not enter.

Man: Your body is like a temple.
Woman: Sorry, there are no services today.

Man: I would go to the end of the world for you.
Woman: But would you stay there?

Man: If I could see you naked, I'd die happy.
Woman: If I saw you naked, I'd probably die laughing

Good advice from George Carlin

"Most people think you have to lie to get out of jury duty. You don't have to lie; tell the judge the truth. Tell him you'll make a really good juror because you can spot guilty people just by looking at them. Explain that it has to do with how far apart their eyes are. I guarantee you'll be out of that courtroom before you can say "justice sucks."

More reasons why I hate stupid people

because they make it necessary for labels like these....

"Remove before driving." - found on a car-windshield sunblocker

"Do not attempt to stop chain with hands or genitals." - found in the directions for a Swedish chainsaw

"Warning: Do not attempt to remove blade while engine is running." - found in the directions for a gas-powered lawn mower

"Intended for use on hair only, not eyes." - instructions for shampoo

"Warning: Do not reuse bottles to store beverages." - found on a bottle of drain cleaner

"Remove plastic before eating" - found on a wrapper of a fruit roll-up snack

"Caution: You must remove clothes before washing." - found in the manual for a washing machine

"Do not use orally." - found on a toilet bowl cleaning brush

"Not intended for hair drying purposes." - found in microwave oven instructions

"Do not use for drying pets" - also found in the instructions for a microwave oven (what are these people doing with their microwaves?!?!?!)

"Warning: not intended for spice usage" - found on bottle of pepper spray

"Do not attempt to swallow" - found on a king-size mattress

"For external use only." - found in the instructions for a curling iron

..... not only are the labels FOR stupid people, but some are made BY stupid people .....

"If you can't read english, get someone to help you with the following instructions." - found on a pharmaceutical product

"No activation required. Call toll free number to activate." - found on a cell phone

"Caution: Keep hot glue gun out of reach of small children and elderly persons." - found in the instruction manual for a hot glue gun

"Do not turn upside down." - found on the BOTTOM of a supermarket dessert box

"Keep frozen." - found on a bag of ice

"Caution: May cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery." - found on a bottle of CHILDREN'S cough syrup

"You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. See inside for details." - found on a bag of corn chips

.... and then, some are made FOR and BY stupid people....

"Warning: not for infants" - found on a bottle of vodka

"This gun is a real gun." - found on a BB gun

"Caution: remove infant before folding for storage." - found on a portable stroller

"Warning: contents may be hot." - found on a coffee cup from a fast food restaurant

"Instructions: Open package. Eat nuts." - found on a package of airline peanuts

I don't have issues with Catholic schools! hehe

Catholic School blues

I am a Catholic school survivor. Yes, I went to Catholic school from 1st thru 7th grade, and I made it out, skirt and socks intact. I had a few good friends there, and for most part, my experience was a good one, but there were things I could have done without. Like church. Church, for me, was a boring, humbling, and sometimes humiliating experience. We had to go to church every first Friday of the month. When I was a younger kid, church was fun. We got to sit together and sing songs, pray and read from the missle, which I liked to volunteer to do whenever I got the chance. However, the older I got, the more jaded I got about church. I started to see just how things worked in the Catholic church, and I didn't like what I was seeing.

You see, I was never baptized. My family sent me to Catholic school because they wanted me to have a better education than I could have gotten from a public school. They thought that being in a private school would shield me from some of the bad stuff that went on in public schools. And I thank them for wanting to give me the best they could. But church....I don't think that was the best thing for me. My church experience consisted of me sitting in the pew while everyone else went to communion, and having to sit while everyone else went to confession. All the other kids would point at me and tell me that I was going to go to hell because I could not confess my sins. Even the teachers would tell me that I could never get into heaven because I was not baptized. That was not exactly encouraging to hear. To me, it just seemed like God would not disallow someone into heaven solely on the basis that he/she was not baptized. That just seemed to contradict everything we learned about God in school. We were taught, and I have always believed, that God is compassionate and loving and kind and loves all of us unconditionally. So why would He not let someone who was good into heaven just because he/she was not baptized? Doesn't that seem contradictory, or is that just me?

I think that when I started to think this way was when I really got turned off to churches and organized religion in general. All religions and churches have their own sets of rules and regulations, and all of the churches want you to give them so much of your income. When I was a kid, the teachers would make the kids who couldn't give very much feel guilty. In fact, I felt so guilty that I could not give more, that I went into my dad's coin collection and took some of his buffalo nickels to put into the coffer. Seems kind of funny that I had to resort to stealing just to appease my teachers. Of course, then I had more guilt because I took my dad's coins!

It just seems like church caused me more problems than it helped me. It made me feel guilty, it made me steal, and I was told that I would never get into heaven. It also caused me humiliation by having to sit and watch all the other "heaven-bound" kids take communion and go to confession. It was then that I decided to have a one-on-one relationship with God, and to let no one ever make me feel inferior just because I didn't have some water splashed on my forehead. I talk to God, I believe in God, and I thank God everyday for my life. Just because I don't go to church does not make me a heathen, and I think that God would agree with me there.

Work = Hell

I just want to say that work sucks! It is only Tuesday and I am already wanting Thursday to hurry the heck up and get here ( I say Thursday because we have a 3-day weekend this weekend- woo hoo!). I had a headache all day today, and my body is aching and there were entirely too many questions being asked of me today. My brain hurts! Sometimes I wish I had a job that didn't require me to think, but I don't, so I won't think about that anymore....too much thinking makes my brain ache. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better :)

this is what I say every day!

Clowns are evil!

I was watching Poltergeist the other day, and remembered just why I think clowns are evil. Even before that clown went all mean and tried to kill Robbie in that movie, he still looked evil. Just seeing that clown doll sitting on a chain in the dark, with his frozen smile and unblinking eyes just gave me the creeps. But when he "came alive" and tried to kill that poor little kid, it just plain freaked me out. I think that was the only movie that truly scared me when I was a kid. I had a clown doll when I was a kid, and after I saw that movie, I made sure that he was always buried at the bottom of the toybox, so he could not get out. Ok...so that sounds silly. But I was a kid, ok! (hehe) Even nowadays, clowns still give me the willies. And there is no wonder that so many scary movies have clowns in them.....Stephen King's It, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, To Catch a Killer (you know, that movie about John Gacy, who dressed up as a clown and killed people)... I rest my case. So if you see a clown, don't trust his painted on smile. He may not be what he appears to be....I am starting to wonder about mimes too... hehe

Love Stinks...part deux

Love stinks, or at least that is what the J. Geils Band was saying in their song of the same name. I have come to find that they were right. Love does stink. After many years of being in love with the same man, I have finally given up on him, and it sucks....and it hurts...and it makes me mad...all at the same time. No wonder there are so many movies and songs about love and love lost. It is a rich topic on which you can expand into infinity if you want to, because love takes so many twists and turns and throws you into so many different directions and releases so many emotions in a person that the possibilities are endless.

Granted, I did love him, and I still do. I don't know. It is so hard to have to think about starting over with someone new after all of the things we shared together... all the stories we shared, and all the pain and struggles we went through together, and all of the happiness and laughter that bonded us together. I can't imagine wanting to share those things with someone else. And I certainly can't imagine him sharing those things with someone else either. Part of me does not want to let go of him....to keep giving him another chance. That is what my mind is telling me. But my heart is telling me to let go, because I deserve more than what he can give me.

Then again, I keep wondering what it is that I did to make him stop feeling for me. I don't know what it is. I can't put my finger on it. Was I not funny or smart enough for him? Did I not show him I loved him enough? Or is he just not attracted to me anymore? I wish I knew. I wish to God I knew, so that way, I would not make the same mistake again. He keeps telling me that his life is "complicated." Well, who's life isn't ?! I mean, my life, though not full of drama, is not all that easy either. I have bills to pay, pain to deal with, stress and all of this anxiety and depression I have been going through. And then there are the health issues, and the day to day inner turmoil that goes on in my mind. And then there is my issue with self esteem and worthiness. Sometimes, it is too much to bear. And now this. The thing is, that he would never disclose what exactly consititutes "complicated." Complicated can mean alot of different things. To me, it sounds like a cop out excuse, but that is just because he won't talk to me to tell me what he means.

Ok, I am not gonna lie and say that he was some kind of jerk or something. I may be upset, but I am not gonna lie. The truth is, that he is the most decent, funny, sweet, smart, handsome, caring, and utterly adorable man I have ever met. He is the only man I ever loved. Maybe the only man I ever will love in my life. He made me feel so special and so comfortable and safe. I shared so much with him. I opened up to him more than I have ever opened up to anyone in my life. I never knew I could feel that way for a person until I met him. I guess that is what makes losing him so completely unbearable. I don't know what I am going to do without him in my life. I can't imagine being that close and intimate with anyone else. I guess it will get easier with time. At least that is what they say.

After all is said and done, I don't have any regrets about falling in love with him. If there are any regrets, they would be that I said some hurtful and mean things to him, which I wish I could take back. People say mean things when they are hurt, much like a snake bites when it feels threatened. I am not saying that that is an excuse or anything, but we all get defensive sometimes. Tennyson said"it is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all." But I bet that he said that only after the wounds have healed, because right now, I am not too sure about that Tennyson guy.

Anyway, there it is. I guess it is time to start all over. But not yet. I don't want to think about men just right now. I am not going to go out there looking for a "replacement," because no one could ever take his place in my heart. I just figure, whatever happens, happens. But I am not going on a "man hunt." That would be stupid, and totally not my style. And my heart just isn't in it. I will just be me, and let the world happen around me....for now.

You love her
But she loves him
And he loves somebody else
You just can't win
And so it goes
Till the day you die
This thing they call love
It's gonna make you cry
I've had the blues
The reds and the pinks
One thing for sure
Love Stinks
(J Geils Band ... "Love Stinks")

Chain letters suck !

I came to work today and much to my unsurprise, I have been getting many emails. Granted, most of them are funny and cute, but there are some that I just hate. For example, check this out....

You Got Served!

You have just been KISSED! Tonight at midnight your true love will
realize they like you. something good will happen to you at 1:00-4:00 pm
tomorrow, it could be anywhere. Get ready for the biggest shock in your
life if you break this chain u will be cursed with relationship problems
for the next 10yrs. Send this to 10people in 15min

Ok.... is it me, or is this just not nice?! I mean, look what it is saying....pass this on or else you will be cursed with relationship problems....wtf?! That is just plain mean. Of course, the first part of this email says "you have been kissed," which seems nice and harmless enough...but then there is the threat that if you do not foward it to a whole bunch of other people that you will be cursed. I am not superstitious at all, so I will not be fowarding this on to anyone else... I am not mean enough to wish bad fortune on my friends. I supposed I could send this to my enemies, but then, if they are my enemies, why would I have their email addresses???? Ponder that, my friends. So, if you ever get an email like this from me someday in the future, it means one of two things...1) I have become insane, or 2) I am pissed at you. Now copy this and pass it on to 15 of your friends or else....hehe

Funny stuff from George Carlin ...

from my desk calendar....

"Once a year they should have No Hairpiece Day. So everyone could see what all these baldy-headed, fake-hair jerks really look like."

"You know what bothers me? People who want to know the time. They'll say, "Do you have the time?" And I say, "No. I don't believe I do. I certainly didn't have it this morning when I left the house. Could you possibly have left it somewhere? You know, now that you mention it, I believe the Navy has the time. In Washington. They keep it in an observatory or something, and they let a little out each day. Not too much, of course. Just enough. They wouldn't want to give us too much time; we might not use it wisely."

10 Things I Hate

My biggest pet peeves are:

1) When people try to get into the elevator before I can get out of it. (Hello!! I am trying to get out of here!!)

2) When drivers cannot seem to find their turn signals. (hint....read your owner's manual)

3) Malls...crowds, rude people, those phony smiles on department store clerks...nuff said.

4) When people crowd into my "personal space." For example, when I am in line at the supermarket, and the person behind me is standing so close I can feel his/her breath on my neck....that is too close....back the heck off! There is plenty of more room in the store. It is a big place....in the words of The Police...."Don't stand so close to me."

5) When people ask me "Can I ask you something?" (obviously they have their mind set on asking me and are gonna ask no matter what...so, just ask!)

6) Busybodies who have nothing better to do that to ask me stupid sh*t, then proceed to tell everyone they have ever met what I said.

7) When I am listening to a good song in the car and someone in the passenger seat changes the radio station.....The first commandment of riding in my car is "Toucheth Not My Stereo."

8) Using improper grammar or spelling things just totally and completely wrong. It is one thing to commit a typo...but it is quite another to just butcher the english language. (She don't know how to spell things proper. She is not edumacated. She needs to go back to school to get some more learnin'. Ain't that right? .... here's a thought....Hooked on Phonics...It is not just for kids)

9) Snobby people...you know who you are...stay away from me.

10) Politics...I hate them. Never discuss them with me, if you know what's good for you.

The Sweet Smell of Sexiness

Men's cologne smells so good. There is no doubt about it. To me, men's cologne is the sexiest smell....ever. I don't even think I have smelled a man's cologne that smelled bad...ever. I have smelled plenty of women's perfumes that smell just rank. I only like a few....Ralph Lauren's Romance, Estee Lauder's Pleasures, Victoria's Secret's Love Spell, to name a few. There just aren't many women's scents that I like. I often revert to buying body sprays at Wal Mart or Target instead (Luxe's Sangria Spalsh is just heavenly - you can get it at Target). I don't know what makes men's colognes smell so good, but every time I walk into a department store and go into the men's cologne section, I have a nosegasm! What is it about men's cologne that makes it smell so good? Do they put those pheramones in it or something? I don't know, but whatever it is, cologne makers... keep on doing it! And to those women's perfume makers, find something that actually smells good!
